The Playhouse

The Playhouse in Alnwick hosts a variety of concerts on most evenings during Festival week.
This comfortable theatre offers an excellent view of the stage from all parts of the auditorium. Before the performance, there's often a musician in the upper foyer to gently serenade you while you enjoy a drink, chat with some of the performers, browse for souvenirs or CDs and, most important, buy your raffle tickets (all proceeds to Festival funds). Don't forget to order your drinks for the interval at the bar. Tea, coffee and ices are also available.

The line-up for 2007 performances at the Playhouse is as follows:

Monday evening: Dancers Delight

A spectacular evening of energy and exuberance with performers from Venezuela and Ukraine.

Tuesday evening: Truly International

An evening of music & dance which spotlights the diversity of world cultures, featuring groups from Latvia, Mauritius & Turkey.

Wednesday evening: European extravaganza

One continent but 3 different European countries, Poland, Greece & Italy. Enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of performers linked by dance and entertainment.

Thursday evening: Celtic Celebrations

Ireland, Scotland and Wales are all rich in heritage of music, song and dance. This evening shows how well those traditions fuse to produce something truly unique, which will certainly get your circulation going and feet tapping.

Friday evening: Festival Fling – part 1

All good things come to an end… Fantastic final performances from 4 groups saying farewell to the festival.

Saturday evening: Festival Fling – part 2

Your very last chance to see the variety of colour and spectacle that makes the festival so distinctive. Relax and revel in a flamboyant performance as groups celebrate in dance and song before the final curtain falls.

All concerts commence at 7.30pm and are programmed to conclude by 10.15, this includes an interval of 15 minutes. However sometimes the groups are prone to overrun but MC’s try to conclude proceedings by 10.30 latest.

Ticket prices are Monday to Thursday, £8, concessions £7; Friday & Saturday £9, concessions £8

(The festival retains the right to change, substitute or alter the groups performing should circumstances dictate.)
